Mini Mother’s Day Photoshoots at Hideaway Cottage, Apollo Bay
It all begins with an idea.
Whether it be you mum, grandmother, step-mum, partner, wife or favourite aunt, we all love to spoil the special women in our lives on Mother’s Day. However, we often hastily conjure up a last minute gift the day before.
I wanted to do something a little bit different so this year I decided I wanted to create an experience for our mums. I wanted it to be more than just an opportunity to have some dreaded family photos done but an enjoyable day of time spent together for everyone involved. I wanted families to enjoy each other’s company; to share some smiles, laughter and hugs and I especially wanted mum to feel pampered, beautiful and loved.
So, with that idea in mind, I welcomed 11 beautiful families to my Motherhood minis. They were held at the most beautiful location in hills behind Apollo Bay at a place called Hideaway Cottage. It is a gorgeous little cottage nestled above the clouds. It provides some idyllic outdoor photo opportunities but also many indoor locations too. I also brought along my entire client wardrobe for the mums and enlisted the help of Hannah Wade MUA who did a beautiful job on so many faces.
So on Sunday June 8th 2023, after a day of heavy rain, the clouds parted for a spectacular day full of clouds, mist, drizzle and little pops of sunshine. The variety in photographs - largely dependent on the sun and outfit choices - is just so much fun! Just like the day was! I hope everyone who came like the images they came away with, but more important they enjoyed their time on the day, because that’s when the nostalgia will visit them when they view the photos 10, 20 or even 30 years away!
I truely appreciate everyone that was involved in the day so here’s to a huge tank you to:

- Hannah Wade MUA, your skills are amazing and you made all the faces you painted feel beautiful. You made everyone feel comfortable and at ease.
- Hideaway Cottage Apollo Bay and all of the individuals who assisted and coordinated the hiring or the property. It is such an amazing space and it comes highly recommended from me if you are planning a weekend down here, and especially for an elopement. I’m happy to come and document it at my favourite accomodation!
-My family and friends for supporting me on the day; from Dad looking after the kids while sick, Jasmine for cooking us dinner the night before, Tracey for ironing clothes and my mum for helping me clean up on her day! Also to Rach from Sweeter Than Honey for being a great support, not just in the day but for the months before.
